Itinerary
Depending on the specifics of your tour we will pick you up at your location or meet in Bohinj. After parking, we will walk along the incredibly picturesque Voje Valley. We will follow the steep gorge of the pristine river Mostnica, and see its fascinating rock formations. After crossing a beautiful pasture, we will reach the Voje waterfall.
Soon after, the path will begin to climb upwards across several smaller high mountain pastures, which will lead us to the Vodnik Lodge. Upon arrival, we will enjoy a well-deserved dinner and head to bed.

Vodnikov Dom na Velem Polju
On day two, our path will lead us along the Velska dolina valley under the southern slopes of Triglav up to the Dolič mountain hut, for our first taste of the high mountain range. At Dolič, we will cross the mountain pass and reach an altitude where vegetation no longer grows. If we preserve enough of our strength and enthusiasm, we can extend our route here and climb the peak of Mount Kanjavec.
We will descend to the Zasavje Lodge on Prehodavci on the other side of the mountain, and recuperate our strengths with some good food while enjoying the gorgeous view of the Soča Valley. Our last mission for the day is to walk down the famous Seven Lakes Valley and reach the Triglav Lake Lodge where we will spend the night.
11 km (6,8 mi), 600 vertical meters up (2000 feet), 730 meters down (2400 feet)
Koča pri Triglavskih Jezerih
If our energy levels allow it, we will start the day by tackling the steep hillside to Mala Tičarica. If we feel like taking it a bit easier, we will just pass it across the slightly up and down terrain to reach the Ovčarija mountain pasture, and then the Dedno polje mountain pasture. Here we will have the option to pay a visit to a local cheese-maker, who still produces cheese the traditional way up on the pasture.
Afterward, we can grab a bite to eat at the mountain hut on Planina pri jezeru. We will then head through the woods to the starting point of our hike. Depending on your wishes we can spend a relaxing afternoon in Bohinj, potentially even go for a swim in the lake, before dropping you off at your hotel.

Description
A three-day hiking tour in the Julian Alps allows you to see the best of this mountain range in a short time. This is the most popular multi-day mountain trip in Slovenia and one of the most mesmerizing hikes in all of Europe. We will hike through an incredibly varied landscape, with new sights to marvel at every day.
The path will take you through the famous Valley of the Triglav Lakes, also known as the Seven Lakes Valley, surrounded by the highest summits of the Julian Alps.
Apart from crystal clear high mountain lakes, we will also come across mountain pastures that provided livelihood to shepherds in these parts for centuries, and still do in some cases, so we’ll see plenty of sheep and cows. With a bit of luck we’ll also spot some wildlife residing in the high mountains like the chamois, ibex, and marmot.
We will find our shelter in mountain huts, which will provide us with authentic Slovenian meals and basic comfort for an overnight stay. The atmosphere in these cabins is truly amazing, which is not surprising, since it is full of people who spent the day in nature, breathing clean mountain air, and getting their dose of hiking endorphins.
A three-day hut-to-hut is the perfect introduction to this type of mountaineering. On this Triglav Lakes Valley hike, we will be able to walk through a good part of the Julian Alps, without excessive physical and technical difficulty. We will mostly walk through high mountain valleys, and enjoy the views of high peaks around us. The 7 Lakes Valley Hut to Hut is, therefore, suitable for anyone who can walk for half of the day – with regular breaks to regain our strengths, of course.
The richness of the Julian Alps offers plenty of opportunities for adapting your tour, and you will be able to take full advantage of that with a private tour. We can also include a Triglav summit in your tour if some of you are hungry for an extra challenge.
NOTE: The mountain huts can be busy in the summer. To ensure your spot in the lodges, we recommend booking the tour as soon as possible, especially for the weekends. For last-minute bookings, we cannot guarantee a free spot in the chosen lodge, but we will try our best or find the most suitable alternative for you.

Things to know
Our guided walking tours are led by UIMLA or IMFGA internationally licensed guides who have completed many years of training to make your walking holidays both safe and enjoyable. They are enthusiastic individuals who are ready to share their passion for Slovenia and its rich culture and nature with you, and make your walking holiday one to remember.
We are always looking for the perfect fit for you. We use a few different accommodation providers that fit our standards but they are subjected to availability, especially in the high season. We can also adjust the holiday, keeping in mind your preferences and budget and can always find a more suitable solution for your taste.
We recommend booking as early as possible. Slovenian mountain huts are very popular and get booked up several weeks in advance, especially on weekends. If your booking is late, we will try our best to find a suitable alternative. Sometimes, last-minute spots open up. However, we cannot guarantee a free spot.
All of the huts offer vegetarian options and usually at least one vegan option. Still, kitchens high up are basic, so don’t expect too many choices. Huts generally serve authentic meals like stews, soups, and sausages. If you have strict dietary restrictions, consider bringing your own food as they can’t make a special meal per request.
If you want to, sure! We are well aware that some people love to stay in groups while others prefer some more alone time on their trip. We wanted to give you the opportunity to do things your way. It is your holiday, after all! As long as you respect the group timings and locations designated by your guide, please feel free to customize your itinerary and create your own adventure!
Depending on the tour, some of our tours go through high mountains and there is still snow in spring (sometimes as late as early June) and autumn (sometimes as early as October). Other tours don’t go as high and are suitable for spring and autumn as well as summer. Read more about hiking seasons in Slovenia.
Most of the tours can be done even in light rain, as long as you dress accordingly. It is not unusual in the summer that there are afternoon thunderstorms, so early starts are advisable. If the weather looks really bad, we will try to reschedule or propose an alternative tour.
Some of our tours are hut-to-hut tours, with overnights in authentic mountain huts. Try to pack light, only take what you really need. You need your passport or ID for check-in, and some cash is advisable if the internet is down. Bring your sleeping liner and earplugs for the night, and toothbrush and body wipes for hygiene. You don’t need slippers, they are in the hut already.
