Who will be our guide?

Our guided walking tours are led by UIMLA or IMFGA internationally licensed guides who have completed many years of training to make your walking holidays both safe and enjoyable. They are enthusiastic individuals who are ready to share their passion for Slovenia and its rich culture and nature with you, and make your walking holiday one to remember.

Why is the accommodation not specified?

We are always looking for the perfect fit for you. We use a few different accommodation providers that fit our standards but they are subjected to availability, especially in the high season. We can also adjust the holiday, keeping in mind your preferences and budget and can always find a more suitable solution for your taste.

How much in advance should I book?

We recommend booking as early as possible. Slovenian mountain huts are very popular and get booked up several weeks in advance, especially on weekends. If your booking is late, we will try our best to find a suitable alternative. Sometimes, last-minute spots open up. However, we cannot guarantee a free spot.

I have food restrictions

All of the huts offer vegetarian options and usually at least one vegan option. Still, kitchens high up are basic, so don’t expect too many choices. Huts generally serve authentic meals like stews, soups, and sausages. If you have strict dietary restrictions, consider bringing your own food as they can’t make a special meal per request.

Will I have some time to myself?

If you want to, sure! We are well aware that some people love to stay in groups while others prefer some more alone time on their trip. We wanted to give you the opportunity to do things your way. It is your holiday, after all! As long as you respect the group timings and locations designated by your guide, please feel free to customize your itinerary and create your own adventure!

What is the best season for walking in Slovenia?

Depending on the tour, some of our tours go through high mountains and there is still snow in spring (sometimes as late as early June) and autumn (sometimes as early as October). Other tours don’t go as high and are suitable for spring and autumn as well as summer. Read more about hiking seasons in Slovenia.

What if the weather forecast is bad?

Most of the tours can be done even in light rain, as long as you dress accordingly. It is not unusual in the summer that there are afternoon thunderstorms, so early starts are advisable. If the weather looks really bad, we will try to reschedule or propose an alternative tour.

What to bring for an overnight stay in the mountain hut?

Some of our tours are hut-to-hut tours, with overnights in authentic mountain huts. Try to pack light, only take what you really need. You need your passport or ID for check-in, and some cash is advisable if the internet is down. Bring your sleeping liner and earplugs for the night, and toothbrush and body wipes for hygiene. You don’t need slippers, they are in the hut already

Self-Guided Tours: Ideal for independent adventurers, our self-guided tours provide you with all the necessary information and support to explore at your own pace. For added convenience, we offer options for car rentals, public transportation, or private transfers, ensuring your holiday is hassle-free. Inn-to-inn and hut-to-hut tours naturally include moving to new locations on foot, with exceptions where public transport can shorten the hike.
Guided Tours: When you opt for a guided tour, you let our expert guides take care of all the details. From navigating the trails to managing all transfers, our guides ensure a hassle-free experience.

All our location-based holidays are designed with accessibility in mind, providing options for public transportation or including private transfers when necessary. We also offer car rental arrangements or additional private transfers upon request, recommended for some holidays as the most convenient way to explore.

A very good travel agency (also known as "Slovenia Cycling Holidays") who worked flexibly with me to develop our tailor-made holiday based on the self-guided hike and bike tour. Staff were always pleasant and responsive and patient with changing plans. Note this is not a bike holiday operator so, while they book hotels, taxis to move your luggage, hire bikes and a guide for walking, they don't provide technical back up, a van or their own bikes customised for touring. We therefore had to ask a few questions about those small but essential things like where to leave luggage, when bikes would be delivered and where were our promised phone holders (essential as you use your own phone for navigating). The hike and bike is a brilliant concept, as you miss out on the interior of the mountains if you only travel by road. The route was very good, hotels were all great, and the guide (see separate review on "Triglav Tours") amazing. Sadly, though, we did not receive the call on the rainy day (as another reviewer mentions) to arrange faster luggage delivery after a short, but drenching, ride. We tried to get this, but It in fact came late, so we were stuck in a hotel room in Bled for 4 hours on a sunny afternoon with nothing but hotel bathrobes to wear! Our contact responded when we asked for help, but we did not experience the proactivity mentioned by others. That said, the company clearly have well established links with excellent providers and can be trusted to put everything in place and to respond quickly if an arrangement has fallen through. Recommended, but be prepared to be involved yourself in the finer details.
